The Skywalker Family Tree UPDATED after THE FORCE AWAKENS

Source: Movie Pilot

The designer of this image had the following explanation.

The whole tree starts with Supreme Leader Snoke who, for the sake of this theory is Darth Plagueis (Master of Palpatine). Here's the evidence that he's technically Anakin's father...

In Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine explains how his master, Darth Plagueis, could even influence the midi-chlorians to create life. Palpatine gives Anakin an all knowing look as he says the line above. Anakin has more Midi-Chlorians than any other Jedi Anakin's mother Schmi tells Qui Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace that Anakin had no father. Qui Gon states that Anakin is a child of the force, as if he is mostly comprised of Midi-Chlorians.

Now Rey is a tricky one. Here's the evidence that Luke is her father...

In the second trailer for the Force Awakens a line is spoken where he says "The force is strong in my family", and then proceeds to list the members of the Skywalker family lineage, including Rey. One scene in the second trailer also shows Rey taking the Skywalker lightsaber, as if the torch is being passed down to the next member of the family. Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the new trilogy would revolve around the Skywalker family, and Rey is obviously the main character of episode 7. Many parts throughout TFA suggest Luke is her father such as the end, where Luke has an interesting expression at the sight of Rey. Perhaps he knows the face of his daughter? Maz tells Rey that her family is not coming back for her and Rey replies, "but there's one who still could, Luke."

    1. you do realize the story went through several iterations before the version we saw in the movie, right? she may very well have been a Solo in the first place, but they probably changed it (also if she was supposed to be a Solo, why go through all the hassle of not revealing her last name? they wouldn't just reveal information that early in the process and change it later if it meant something)

    2. Kira was fan speculation and never official. It was obviously wrong.

      Delete
    3. "Kira" was a production name.
      Finn was known as "Sam."
      Poe Dameron was "John Doe"
      Kylo Ren was "Jedi Killer"
      Snoke was "Uber"
      Maz Kanata was "Rose."

This wasn't just fan speculation... it just wasn't final.

    4. Unfortunately Disney's Infinity game already spoiled it with Kylo Ren calling her cousin. No offense but even with the facts it was pretty obvious, considering the story needs to progress with A Skywalker being involved since it's family oriented. The real question now is who's her mother or maybe Luke became powerful enough to do what Plagueis once did. Maybe she was conceived from the force and that's why she has such a strong link with the force and she developed so quickly with so little training. Another character I'm curious about is Poe, an ace pilot with such natural raw talent, the ability to pilot namely anything almost effortlessly. If you read the newly produced comics, which are considered canon, his parents went on an expedition with Luke in which they retrieved two trees baring incredibly strong links with the force. One of the trees was planted right outside where his parent's lived,an area to which Poe spent much of his childhood days.

Having read the books she is in fact his sister, Kylo (jacen solo) becomes emperor and Luke(who becomes what is known as a dark jedi) after learning the dark side power, and Leia (after learning she could also use the force) form the new rebelion to stop emperor Jacen.......read a god damn book

      MAZ: Han told me.
      (reaches out, hold Rey's hand)
Dear child. I see your eyes. You already know the truth. Whomever you're waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back. But... there's someone who still could.

      REY: Luke.

MAZ: The belonging you seek is not behind
you. It is ahead. I am no Jedi, but I know the Force. It moves through and surrounds every living thing. Close your eyes. Feel it.

    2. What's to say that Plagueis didn't simply cheat that death?

However, he would then have to renounce the Sith as Snoke has been confirmed to not be Sith. One could see that happening if Plagueis found a greater existence.

An alternative theory could be that he was one of Palpatine's followers, as in the novel he stated he was there when Vader betrayed the Emperor, and the Emperor only told the guards to leave.

    3. Why is it so hard to see that Leia is a Skywalker. In the books after turn off the jedi Han and Leia had twins. A boy and a girl. Therefore she would still be Luke's family. In her vision she saw ren. But not her parents. I think the whole thing is just an easy way of remaking the original story. Twins seperated. Because then anyone could be lying to them to protect them.

      Delete
    4. Or they didn't know they have twins..

    5. Turn off the jedi? And you mean Rey, right? The EU books have been announced as no longer being canon.

    10. Movies and two tv series (clone wars and rebels) and only some of the novels and comics released after the announcement that EU is not canon are canon. That was stated by disney. Everything that was EU is named Legends. For examole the recent comics about Darth Maul (continues story from clone wars tv series) is canon, but some of them have a little word "Legends" included that means noncanon.

      Delete
    11. The novels that were released set after episode 6 except the books promoting the film are not cannon so whatever the books said get those theories out of your heads because JJ and Larry said at the press conference that they respected the EU but felt that they wanted to make a film that they wanted and what they felt should happen no matter what the EU books had in them, as Kathleen said at comicon in 2014 the EU is not cannon except the books set inbetween trilogies (prequels and originals) and the clone wars and rebels series.

    12. The both kotor games and the mmo swtor may be cannon as well, in the TV show the clone wars, pre viszla tells obi-wan that his ancestor stole the darksaber when the temple on coruscant was sacked. If you watch the deceived trailer for swtor, there is a mandalorian female that aids malgus. That mandalorian's name is shae viszla. That would make that trailer cannon, thus making swtor cannon. Swtor mentions the story of both revan and meetra, therefore making that cannon. At least in theory

    13. He wasn't saying face me cousin, or face me curses, as a sentence. He was saying Face me and then got hit. His automatic response to getting hit is curses. Curses was just a response to the hit with ridiculous timing which made people think it was a complete senses. Playing the game with subtitles erases all doubt...

  8. The light saber was Annakins. It was given to Luke and lost(until TFA) on Bespin. The light saber could similarly be given to his grandchildren, Kylo Ren, or Rey. If Rey is a Solo, she is Annakins grandchild. The Force would still flow through her as a niece of Luke. Also, isn't the quote in the trailer from Return of the Jedi, affirming Luke's recognition of Vader as his father? It's not about Kylo or Rey, even though it could apply to them despite neither being Luke's child?

  9. I think Lando got the light saber to Maz. It was lost on Bespin. Lobot probably got it. Then somehow, Lando(who has yet to reappear) got it. Maybe not but Lando did have the strongest links to Luke and Bespin. Maybe the Force moved through Lando as it's mechanism for delivery.

What better way to hide the fact you're a Jedi. They have a daughter who would have been born shortly after Luke. After RotJ Luke probably returns to Kenobi's home searching for answers. 22. The smartest thing Disney could do would be to introduce a new Jedi family - especially if kylo is carrying the skywalkers bloodline forward. As for evidence of Rey being Luke's daughter, nothing is definitive. Kylo didn't seem to recognize her, even with a look into her head. Nor did Han or leia. The circumstances surrounding Rey's isolation may simply be her parents trying to protect her. As for Luke's second trailer narration, he only ends the lineage statement with, "you have that power too." - why not, " my daughter has it," if he was trying to tell her, as he did with Leia?

  32. That family tree was Close to what I was thinking, I kept expecting it to be revealed somewhere within Ep1-3 that Emperor Palpatine "force" impregnated Shimi, hence Anakin's "immaculate conception" left him with such a high midiclorian count and such easy sway to the darkside. But with the wizard of Oz-esk reveal of Snoke (wouldn't it be funny if he were really only 3 apples tall?) and the potential that he could be Darth Plagueis, then this in the end actually makes more since. As to Rey being Lukes daughter, I hope so. But as to Obiwan being some how involved, unless he had a one nighter with Ahsoka Tano I truely doubt it as this would go against everything that Obiwan stood for. However I am hoping that Mara Jade somehow makes it into the mix, maybe in some "Lilth-esq" type of role, but who knows, I guess we will just have to wait and see. But as to the Knights of Ren, could Snoke have done away with the rule of 2 and realized that more is better? i.e. Many under One. ...hence the name change from DARTH (Dark Lord of the Sith) to REN (Really Evil Noob). ;)
